On 16 September 2014, the Parliament finally adopted the Lustration Bill. The second Ukraine's President signs the Bill it has to be implemented. However, even now the Government shall stick to norms of the Bill especially when it comes to appointment of Yanukovich's supporters to work for the Government, which is opposed by the public, especially in Kyrovohrad.
On 26 August, Svoboda's special purpose unit "Sich" has joint other battalions at the east of Ukraine. Nationalists from different parts of Ukraine voluntary joined the battalion after two months of training. Family members, friends and the Leader of "Svoboda" Oleh Tiahnybok came to support "Sich" fighters. Children presented soldiers with flowers, drawings, blue and yellow ribbons. Everyone wished the brave men to counter enemy and to return home alive. Father Oleksander Vronskyy, who is chaplain of the battalion, blessed nationalists to fight for the future of Ukraine.
In an interview with French channel "TV5", Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin stated that the Ukrainian Government is ready to give an official status to Russian language in each region that would ask for it. I would like to point out that in his comment regarding any language policy in Ukraine Mr. Klimkin should be guided exclusively by Article 10 of the Constitution of Ukraine, not by his subjective assessments.
On 30 June, the political council of "Svoboda" held a meeting in Kyiv. The council supported the resolution of the All-Ukrainian Conference of "Svoboda", which was held on 7 and 14 June 2014 following the Revolution of Dignity and the presidential election.
Dr Ulrich Busch is the German lawyer who is well-known due to his representation of the Ukrainian citizen Ivan Demianuk. The claim on behalf of the Svoboda's leader Oleh Tiahnybok against Gregor Giza (Member of the Bundestag) and the newspaper "Süddeutsche Zeitung" was filed citing insult and defamation, which was made by the head of the left-wing fraction of the Bundestag H. Hizi and printed by the newspaper in question. The plaintiff stated that the abovementioned German politician used false quotes with the aim of attacking Tiahnybok's reputation, the democratic development of Ukraine and has attempted to legitimize aggressive actions of Putin in Ukraine.
During a meeting with the community of Chortkyv (Ternopil region), the Leader of Svoboda and the Presidential Candidate Oleh Tiahnybok stated that the latest losses endured by the Ukrainian military in Donbas are due to the lack of professionalism and the betrayal witnessed amongst Ukraine's political and military leaders.
During his address to the Parliament on 29 April, the Leader of Svoboda Oleh Tiahnybok stated that Ukraine, indeed, needs a new Constitution. However, people need to know, first and foremost, when the Anti-terrorist operation will be completed, what is going on in eastern regions, why people are being kidnapped (on ethnic ground) in Donetsk and Luhansk, why officers of "Alfa" are captured, and nobody is trying to rescue them. "Maybe we should learn to apply and follow the current Constitution first, and then think about any changes?" - asked Tiahnybok.
Following Oleh Tiahnybok's request, State's Consumer Protection and Goods Inspection Agency withdrew bad-quality Russian goods from Ukraine's market. Oleh Tiahnybok appealed to the authorities on the ground that the goods which Russia sells on the territory of Ukraine are of poor quality, and do not meet the requirements outlined in the Ukrainian legislation. Moreover, mass violations of consumer rights have been observed when the goods in question are being sold. These points were confirmed by the Agency, who published an official statement to that regard on their website.
On 29 March, delegates of XXVIII Congress of the Svoboda party unanimously supported the candidacy of Oleh Tiahnybok for the 2014 Presidential elections (all five hundred and sixty eight delegated from twenty four regions, Crimea, cities of Kyiv and Sevastopol voted in favour).
On the 21 March, the leader of Svoboda Oleh Tiahnybok and representatives of other parliamentary factions met with delegation of the United Nations headed by the General Secretary of the UN Mr Ban Ki-Moon. The current political situation in Ukraine was discussed.
